REON research modifying sensor for double duty is published in top technology journal

The research resulting in increased sensor capability by the River and Estuary Observatory Network (REON) research team has been recently shared in an article published in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) journal. IEEE is the world's top-most professional association for the advancement of technology.

The article titled "Estimating Colloidal Concentration Using Acoustic Backscatter" outlines the significant improvements to the functionality of the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) made by the REON team, which have essentially doubled its efficiency. Designing cost-effective sensors is a necessary step towards achieving a comprehensive view of water systems like the Hudson River watershed through real-time monitoring.
