Remembering Pete Seeger

Pete Seeger, legendary singer, songwriter, activist and environmental pioneer, passed away on January 27 at the age of 94. Fueled by the power of song, Pete had an extraordinary ability to inspire and befriend people on both a global and local scale. He was a true friend to Beacon Institute and supported us in so many Pete-like ways with performances, story-telling, and visits to the office unknowingly bearing wisdom with a sparkle in his eye.

In 2010, Pete sat with his banjo in Beacon Institute's gallery and shared his 'mantra' with us. We will continue to work hard to honor his words:

"The agricultural revolution took thousands of years; the industrial revolution took hundreds of years, but the information revolution is only taking decades and if we use it and use the brains God gave us, who knows what miracles will happen in the next few years" - Pete Seeger
