Nicholas A. Robinson, J.D.

Nicholas A. Robinson is University Professor at Pace University. He is the Gilbert & Sarah Kerlin Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law at Pace Law School, and a Professor Adjunct at the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

A specialist in comparative environmental law and environmental impact assessment, Robinson is engaged in research and capacity building in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He serves on the Environmental and Social Advisory Committee for the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development in London. He has served as Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and authored the NY Tidal Wetlands Act and much of its Freshwater Wetlands, along with other laws and regulations. 

Robinson was Legal Advisor to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature & Natural Resources (IUCN), and led the Asian Development Bank’s programs to build capacity for research and teaching of environmental law throughout the Asian and Pacific Region. He co-edited the UN Environment Programme’s Manual on International Environmental Law.  He holds his J.D. from Columbia University and his A.B. from Brown University.
